ACS: Science ABCs - 'Y' is for You

You’re the only one like you—
You’re special and unique!
Your walk, your talk, your laughter,
The way your eyeballs peek.

One look into your mirror
And you will surely see
Those parts that make you into
That person you call “me.”

Those little things about you
That you have come to know
Make you that special someone—
You’re YOU from head to toe!

What makes YOU different from everyone else?

The many things about you that make you different from everyone
else are called traits. These traits come from special chemicals that
make up your genes. You get your genes from your mother and
father. Genes are kind of a recipe for you, with instructions for
making your own special finger prints, freckles, straight or curly
hair, and many other things about you.
