Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Junior Ranger Family Hike

Join Ranger Kevin for a fun, family-friendly hike and get your kids started in our Junior Rangers program.

Looking for something to do with the kids over spring break? You found it! Join Ranger Kevin for this 1.5-mile hike on the Mule Deer trail. Prior to the hike, we’ll talk about the Junior Ranger program, set every young person up with their own activity book, and then we’ll actually do some of the activities together on our hike as a way to get a head start on becoming an official Junior Ranger! The hike is generally easy, but may have stretches with loose rock and uneven terrain, so please wear closed-toe shoes, and bring water. Hats and sunscreen are strongly recommended. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center. Please, NO pets.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 5 with your name, phone number and number attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.   Registration for this program will close on 3/27/24.

  • Audience: Kids (6 - 8 years), Tweens (9 - 13 years)
  • Genre: Field Sciences
  • Type: Field Trip/Outdoor Activity, Tour/Walk
