Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Guided Bird Walk
Learn about birds of Sonoran Desert and migrant water birds on this walk with Ranger Eric. We will first meet at the Wild Burro Day Use Area, which is located off Desert Tortoise Rd. (see the two sides of the map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8×111.pdf). From Wild Burro, we will drive a short distance up Desert Tortoise Rd. or Two Cow Rd. where we can scan the lake for water birds with a scope and binoculars. We will likely see ducks, loons, grebes, and gulls out on the lake. For those of us up for a short hike, we will go on the nearby Wild Burro Trail for 0.5-1 mile, which is easy to moderate, but slightly rocky or uneven in places. Please dress in layers, wear protective footwear, and carry ample water and snacks for yourself.
To register, please email Ranger Eric at eric.hough@maricopa.gov. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email back ASAP so those on the waiting list may be contacted.
