Bringing the Sonoran Desert to the Spaces Where We Live, Work, and Play
Danielle Carlock

In this dynamic presentation, Danielle will explore some of our local native plants, how we can incorporate them into our outdoor spaces to support wildlife, and how you can engage with the Maricopa Native Seed Library and Pollinator Pathway projects to support these efforts. While our connections to nature have become more tenuous, we are discovering just how important these connections are, not only for the planet’s health, but for our own. By adjusting our landscaping practices and attitudes toward gardening, Danielle will share how we can reconnect to nature and experience joy by helping native plants and wildlife thrive in the places where we live, work, and play.

Danielle Carlock is the founder of the Maricopa Native Seed Library and the Maricopa Pollinator Pathway at Maricopa Community Colleges, where she is on the library faculty. She is based at South Mountain Community College, specializes in science librarianship, and is a former biology teacher. Danielle has been avidly gardening with Sonoran Desert plants for 13 years and is active with the Arizona Native Plant Society.
