OdySea Aquarium: Reefs of the World (Grades 9 - 12)
The following lesson plans are designed to offer teachers and students a look at the undersea world of coral reefs.
9th-12th grade curricula include both in-class and independent assignments focusing on Water, Rivers of the World and Coral Reefs. Lessons for the classroom include The Water Cycle, The Importance of Rivers and Coral Reef Explorer. The independent assignment to complete at OdySea Aquarium is called Water World. An optional independent project is the Arizona Wetlands Project.
Guests of OdySea Aquarium follow the journey of a drop of water as it falls from the sky and gently flows into rivers and lakes, winding its way to the shore and down to the vast ocean.
As you take a journey through a fascinating collection of salt and fresh water creatures, think about how water is used and the importance of water on the planet.
With data collected from investigating the selected river, write an essay that focuses on conservation of that particular Arizona river.
The high school lesson design includes both in-class and independent assignments.
As part of the study of rivers, the wetlands project is an opportunity for students to study in the field and report their findings.
