Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Welcome to the Sonoran Desert!

Join Ranger Kevin for a two-mile hike on the moderate terrain of the Black Rock Loop Trail.

Learn about our incredible Sonoran Desert – from the powerful forces that have combined to create our unique desert environment to the amazing adaptations of the plants and animals that live here. Time permitting, we will also stop at Petroglyph Plaza to view a remarkable “gallery” of indigenous artistry. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water; hats and sunscreen are highly recommended. Meet at the Area 4 parking lot; restrooms are available near the trailhead. This is a great hike for families on holiday break as well as those individuals looking to knock a couple of miles off their “100 Miles in 100 Days” challenge.

To register, please call the White Tank Park office at 602-506-2930 ext. 5 with your name, number attending and your phone number. Limited to 20 participants. Registration deadline: Monday, December 19th.  NO pets, please.
