Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike

Learn all about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem on this guided walk with Ranger Eric!  

Join Ranger Eric for a guided hike to learn about the animals, plants, and ecology of the Sonoran Desert. We will hike 4.4 miles on a loop of Scenic Trail and part of Pemberton Trail. It is rated as moderate, with occasionally uneven, rocky, or sandy surfaces. Please dress in layers, wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. Restrooms are available at Trailhead Staging Area.

For those of you participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, this is a great way to work towards your goal! The challenge runs from Nov.1-Feb. 8. Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on Thursday, 1/2.
