The Society of Women Engineers at ASU presents GEAR Day, our largest annual outreach event. GEAR Day is a free outreach event designed to inspire K-12 students by introducing them to the world of engineering, teaching fundamental STEM concepts, and encouraging creativity through the engineering design process.
We will be offering a variety of hands-on STEM activities tailored to different grade levels, and food will be provided at the end of each session. Please plan to attend the session that corresponds to your student’s grade level. Down below are some more details about the schedule for each section.
Grades K-3 Schedule Breakdown
- Three activities throughout the day:
- Activity #1 – Wind Powered Car
- Activity #2 – Build Your Own Stomp Rocket
- Activity #3 – Chemistry Kaleidoscope
- Snack times & lunch provided

Grades 4-6 Schedule Breakdown
- Three activities throughout the day:
- Activity #1 – Build Your Own Submarines
- Activity #2 – Binary Bracelets
- Activity #3 – Arduino LED Activity

Grades 7-12 Schedule Breakdown
- Four activity rotations where students can choose which activities they do:
- Electrical & Software – Build a mini Stoplight
- Environmental – Wind turbine
- Civil – Building Stability Activity
- Mechanical Engineering – Build Your Own Car
- Aerospace – Radar Sonar Activity
- Biomedical – Heart Rate Monitor
- Technical Club Showcase
- Collegiate Student Panel

RSVP is required. To secure your spot, please complete the registration form. Capacity is limited, so we kindly ask that you register only if you are confident your student can attend.
