Arizona State Parks & Trails: Homolovi II Ancestral Hopi Pueblo Tour and Petroglyphs

Join a ranger-led hike at the Homolovi II Ancestral Hopi Pueblo. Homolovi II is one of four pueblos in the Homolovi cluster recorded by Jesse Walter Fewkes from the Smithsonian in 1896. Homolovi II is the largest of the ancestral Hopi pueblos having over 1000 estimated rooms and 47 kivas. Guests will see the outline of five domestic rooms and a reconstructed ceremonial structure (kiva). Artifacts, including ground-stone and pottery, can be seen along the pathways. The petroglyphs are located below the mesa. Access to the petroglyphs are over rough and steep slopes, loose fill and gravely surfaces. Recommended footwear is closed-toe shoes or boots. Dress for cool weather, bring plenty of water and sunscreen. The hike is 1.75 miles and will loop from the Homolovi II parking area. Petroglyph Trail is on loose soils on a slope.  Park Day Use or Camping Fee Required.
