Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Silent Walking – A Beginner’s Guide to Connecting with Nature

February 7, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Shaun for a brief journey away from it all.

Tired? Stressed? Feeling overwhelmed? Maybe it’s time to take a break, unplug, and just walk off into the desert for a bit. Fortunately, we’ve got just the thing. Ranger Shaun is leading a small group on a 4.3-mile moderate difficulty hike along the beautiful and appropriately named Scenic Trail. We’ll practice some mindfulness exercises, do some stretches, and spend some time learning to let go and reconnect to ourselves and to the natural world around us. Along the way we can appreciate the views and learn to enjoy being together, and comfortable, in silence. Please wear closed toed shoes and bring plenty of water for drinking. Snacks are often nice, as is a hat to keep the sun off and something soft to sit on like a blanket or towel that you can fold into your backpack or easily carry. No pets or young children please, they often struggle with the “silent” part of the experience.

MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead staging area. Limit 10 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 02/05/25.
