Let’s construct a home for macroinvertebrates!

Fifth graders develop a model to describe the manor and the movement of matter among the plants, animals, decomposers and the environment. This project is designed to span a month or longer.

The mission of the California Academy of Sciences is to explore, explain, and sustain life.
Here you’ll find short, lively activities to focus your class trip, or full-period lessons to integrate into your yearly curriculum.
After students have created their Macroinvertebrate Manor, use art as a way to share this experience with others. You can also increase the biodiversity of the manor by creating habitats for bees, ladybugs, and butterflies.
