In honor of this achievement and in the spirit of STEM innovation on which the Festival was founded, we are evolving to more effectively meet the needs of the state’s communities and residents. Since its launch in 2012, the SciTech Festival’s 900+ partners have engaged hundreds of thousands of attendees in 80+ Arizona cities and towns. The 2021 Festival season offers an incredible opportunity to both celebrate the past and embrace the future. We invite you to join us in making STEM accessible, engaging, and inspiring for all. We are taking advantage of the “virtual” reality that has arisen in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and working to support the Festival’s collaborators and events as a fusion of online and in-person approaches. Organizers will continue to offer their in-person, hands-on events when possible, but will also be encouraged to add virtual options as well.
We are working hard to ensure people have the opportunity to still engage with STEM during this time and provide opportunities to better connect our STEM ecosystem of collaborators from business, community, government, and education.
It embraces continued STEM learning and engagement and helps break down barriers like geography and socioeconomic. We see the silver lining in the ways current challenges will push us to grow as a community. We anticipate that this “hybrid” format will go beyond signature events and 2021 to make the overall Festival truly inclusive and provide participants of all capabilities with valuable and rewarding experiences well into the future.

Join us for the Festival Season and we hope you will find getting started is easier than you think! An increasing number of jobs rely on tools gained from STEM education and all ages can start engaging in various ways today. Project-based learning and the creative problem solving fostered in STEM education are essential for addressing real world problems. STEM encourages development of critical thinking skills as well as soft skills such as communication, leadership, and working as part of a team.
SciTech Institute is proud of its history of programming to assist all ages in becoming STEM researchers, innovators, and leaders. The 10th season of the festival is packed with online opportunities to engage in STEM content, discover the wide range of STEM and STEM-related career opportunities, and virtually explore ways to prepare for a future in STEM through conversations and discovery-based workshops with professionals.
STEM is about using a variety of skills to solve real-world challenges and problems. During the festival, take time to consider the project-based approach to teaching and learning. Thinking about STEM allows individuals to understand and appreciate the relevancy of their work to their own lives and the world around them.
Celebrate ten seasons of the Arizona SciTech Festival with a network of individuals who have collaborated, participated and supported engagements in STEM. Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” Thank you.
Doing something new can change lives and bring joy. Our human bodies and brains thrive on new motivation to try new things. Trying new things, especially things that we once were afraid of trying, helps us step outside our comfort zone.
Keep it simple and focus on the process, not the product. Enjoy designing, creating and building. If working with others, offer specific praise and recognition based on effort.
Take notice of what you are doing today. Be present, awake and aware.
Let’s look back over the past 10 Seasons of the Arizona SciTech Festival.
Tinkering is important because it can help humans understand how things are made, enables us to have focused and unstructured time to explore and test ideas. It is at the heart of invention.
Find STEM things to observe, sketch, photograph, paint, describe, build a model and more. Take time to identify things around you that involve STEM.
To move forward, it is not about perfect. It is about effort.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
The best ideas were once considered weird. The most successful people are the ones who refused to just be normal. Weird is good.
Explore H2O. Discuss ways to access, conserve, filter, change and use water. Create a project to highlight water.
Knowing yourself and learning about what you don’t know can create wisdom.
Flawsome: adj. embraces “flaws” and knows they are awesome regardless.
Set aside time today to think. Schedule it on your calendar!
Share your favorite STEM tip.
Great things are rarely achieved by one person. Work together today!
Let’s look back at where we came from and be proud about progress!
Find a fun fact to share. For example, the tongue of a blue whale is as long as an elephant.
Click and explore locations around the world on virtual field trips.
Engage in new things as a family.
