Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Night Walk

Join Ranger Eric on this full moon hike to look for nocturnal wildlife, including scorpions!

Enjoy views of sunset and the rising full moon across the Valley while joining Ranger Eric to look for and learn about the nocturnal animals on this guided hike! Wildlife we may see includes scorpions, spiders, insects, owls, nightjars, reptiles, and mammals! We will hike 2.4 miles roundtrip on a loop of Rainbow Valley, Baseline, and Toothaker Trails. The hiking terrain is easy to moderate, with frequently rocky or uneven surfaces. Please bring your own flashlights and blacklights if you have them, but the ranger will have a blacklight to try to look for scorpions with. Carry your own ample water and electrolytes, and wear sturdy footwear. Restrooms and a water bottle filling station are available at the Rainbow Valley Trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: The west end of the Staging Area off of Arena Dr., parking at the Rainbow Valley Trailhead. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/estrella-8×114.pdf
