Flagstaff Festival of Science: Lava River Cave Guided Hike

Take a guided tour of the Lava River Cave and hear about its origin and processes that form interesting features found in a lava tube.

Bring at least two light sources (headlamps or flashlights) with fresh batteries, and adequate clothing, including a jacket and sturdy shoes for scrambling over boulders and walking on uneven, rocky ground. A helmet (bicycle helmet works) is a good idea, but not required. No pets are allowed. Reservations are required.

Part of Flagstaff Festival of Science, a free annual 10-day event wholly designed to promote awareness and enthusiasm for science in and about northern Arizona and beyond, and is fondly known as the Best 10 Days of the Year. Established in 1990, it is the longest, continuously running, entirely free science festival in the world.
