Arizona Game and Fish Department: Citizen Science for Educators – A Hands-on Workshop

Are you looking for ways to engage your students in real-world science? Would you like to learn more about citizen science and its role in wildlife conservation

? As Citizen Science Month wraps up, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is pleased to offer this exciting workshop designed specifically for educators. We will dive into digital tools that allow anyone, including students, to document plants and animals and add those observations to science projects. We will gain hands-on experience in those tools by contributing to the Greater Phoenix City Nature Challenge, an annual citizen science event that connects cities across the world!

Over the course of the workshop, participants will:
– Learn about the history of citizen science.
– Explore opportunities to involve students in citizen science.
– Participate in an international citizen science event.
– Reflect on current and new learning and discuss implications for future teaching.
– Receive activities and resources to be used back in the classroom.
