Reid Park Zoo: Wildlife Ranger Challenge Walk

September 16, 2023 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am

$5 – $15

Walk to Support the Wildlife Ranger Challenge!

The Wildlife Rangers Challenge, powered by Tusk.org supports front-line rangers across Africa by raising vital funds for frontline conservation efforts and awareness of the important work rangers do to protect Africa’s biodiversity.

On September 16, over 150 ranger teams spanning the African continent will unite to compete in a half marathon race carrying their typical 48 pound backpack and equipment. Teams around the world are partnering with them to show solidarity for the vital role they play in protecting Africa’s wildlife.

Join Reid Park Zoo’s team on September 16 on a 1.5 mile walk around Reid Park in solidarity with the rangers from Tsavo Trust.

Pre-registration is required and funds raised will benefit conservation. Thank you to The Narcus Family Trust who will match registration fees and donations up to $1,000!  You can also support the Challenge through commemorative T-shirt:  (see design below, color options)

Reid Park Zoo’s team is partnering with the wildlife rangers from Tsavo Trust. Tsavo Trust rangers protect many African species including lions, wild dogs, grevy’s zebra, black rhinos, and Kenya’s largest single elephant population. This area is also home to several “big tuskers,” elephants that have tusks so long that they touch the ground.

Registration:

Member Adult: $10
Child: $5

Additional donations can be made during registration. Money raised through the Wildlife Ranger Challenge will be matched by the Scheinberg Relief Fund to be unlocked by participating ranger teams.

After the walk, enjoy special talks in the Zoo at the elephant, lion, zebra, and wild dog habitats.  Zoo admission is included in the entry fee.
