Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Safari

Search for scorpions out on the trails with your black lights on this family-friendly and fun nighttime safari!

Summer is here and so are our scorpion friends. We’ll be on the lookout for our Sonoran species, and whoever finds the Giant Desert Hairy scorpion wins! This fun program starts with a brief overview of scorpions of Arizona and how to identify them, followed by a walk with a ranger to see how many we can find. We’ll be exploring Desert Hawk Trail, a 0.5-miles loop hike located near (and starting from) the nature center. Don’t forget to bring your blacklights, flashlights, water, close-toed shoes, and $7 cash/ vehicle to self-pay. No pets please. Gates close at 9pm.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Parking Lot

Limit 25 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 4 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 5/2/24.
