Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Native Seed Deployment Hike

August 4, 2023 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 am

Free with Park Fee
Join us for an early morning hike in support of the Sonoran Desert’s native plants and Maricopa County’s natural resource program.

Join Ranger Steve for an approximately 3 hour event with short walks on the Waterfall, Goat Camp, and other trails, as well as around the Nature Center. We will be talking about the importance of native plants in restoring desert habitat that has been degraded due to things like wildfire, human use and overgrazing. We may even get the opportunity to observe as “seed bombs” are deployed in several areas along the route to facilitate the health and biodiversity of White Tank Mountain Regional Park. Trails are rated easy-moderate, so expect areas of loose rock, uneven terrain and some elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are highly recommended. No pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Visitor Center at 602-506-2930 ext. #5 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 8/2/23.
