Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Beginning Birders Hike

April 25 @ 8:15 am - 10:15 am

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Kevin for an introduction to birding in one of Arizona’s premiere birding locations.

Enjoy a roughly 2-mile walk on the Palm Lake, Mesquite Meander, Lions, and Willow Walkway trails. We’ll cover birding basics, from tools and equipment to bird identification tips and strategies. Trails are rated easy, although thick sand is possible in some stretches. Don’t worry if you don’t have binoculars; the Ranger will have some to borrow. Please wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the parking area. NO pets are allowed at the Preserve.

MEETING LOCATION: Visitor Center

Limit 12 participants. To register, please call the Visitor Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 9 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 4/23/26.
