Flagstaff Festival of Science: W. L. Gore & Associates Keynote Presentation – Indigenous Food Systems Science

The 2025 W. L. Gore & Associates Keynote Presentation: Indigenous Food Systems Science features speaker Mariah Gladstone, Piikuni (Blackfeet) and Tsalagi (Cherokee), who was raised in Northwest Montana and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University. Gladstone is a nationally recognized advocate for food sovereignty and sustainability.

At Northern Arizona University’s Ardrey Auditorium, Gladstone will cover the themes of time-tested sustainability, nutrition, and ecology. Gladstone will address dietary education in order to combat chronic diseases in Indigenous communities, the promotion of sustainable land use and traditional ecological knowledge, and how to heal intergenerational loss of traditional food practices. This talk is free to attend but reservations are required in advance.
