Flagstaff Festival of Science: Plant Identification: Trained Botanists vs. AI vs. DNA Barcoding

Join MNA botanists Kirstin Phillips and Jan Busco as they compare their own localized plant knowledge to the latest plant identification phone apps that use artificial intelligence. Bring a flowering native plant sample for the botanists to identify and compare to the results of AI phone apps. NAU Genetics Core Facilities Manager Jill Hager Cocking will demonstrate the latest portable and quick DNA technology available to identify species. Stop by at the end of the day to see a display of identified local plants.
