Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Cactus Hike

Join Ranger Derik on a morning hike up into the mountains. Learn about the many cactus species that call the Sonoran Desert home and how they are important to the local ecosystem.
The hike will cover sections of the Overton trail in an out and back trek covering 3.4 miles and gaining 350ft of elevation. This hike is rated as moderate so expect rocky trail and some loose ground. You are encouraged to bring 2 liters of water and wear close toed shoes. Water and bathrooms can be found at the nature center.
MEETING LOCATION: Front door of the Nature Center
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 11/18/24.
