Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Guided Bird Walk

Join Ranger Nikki on an easy walk to look for and identify our desert feathered friends and their homes.

On this walk near the Nature Center, we will watch for birds and see if you can spot their homes camouflaged among the cholla cacti and trees. The route follows a portion of Desert Hawk Trail over to the campground, where we will walk on paved roadways. The terrain is rated easy and in mainly flat and even with small rocks underfoot. You can also learn about ways to help with bird identification using books and apps. (This hike is followed by a separate indoor class on bird identification). Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water, a hat, binoculars (suggested) and sunscreen. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center front patio
