Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: 100 Miles in 100 Days Nature Hike

Learn about the desert riparian oasis of the Preserve while hiking with Ranger Eric.

We will hike all of the Preserve’s trails while learning about the flora, fauna, and diverse ecosystem of this desert riparian area with Ranger Eric. Most of the trails are fairly flat along the lake and river, but with some occasional sand or uneven terrain. We will end the hike with the short, but steep climb up to Lykes Lookout, which gives a fantastic view of the surrounding area. There is a bench at the base of Lykes Lookout in case anyone doesn’t feel comfortable doing that portion of the hike and wants to wait to go back with the others in the group. Altogether, we will hike about 3.1 miles roundtrip.

For those wanting to start or continue their progress towards the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge (Nov. 1-Feb. 8), the hike up to this is a great way to work towards your goal! For more information, please visit the link below:
