Yavapai County Free Library District: Pollinators in the Garden with the Master Gardener’s of Yavapai County!

November 23, 2024 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

When we think of the origins of the produce at a farmer’s market, or the zucchini our neighbor brought by to share we likely think only of the farmer or gardener who made the crop available to us. But we would be remiss to forget that without the help of many flying, creeping, and crawling creatures we would be market-less and zucchini-less too!

We all depend on pollinators for the gardens we enjoy, many of the plant materials we utilize, and of course the food we eat. Beneficial insects that are pollinators range from honeybees to ants to moths, and many more! Knowing about pollinators can help your own garden – so get a front row seat to this Master Gardener run class and find out what the buzz is all about!

Teaser Fact – Did you know that lizards and possums are pollinators too? You’ll learn more fun bits like this in addition to learning how to make your home gardens pollinator friendly!

Who ARE the Master Gardeners?

Master Gardeners are volunteers who are trained by the University of Arizona to support the county Horticulture Agent, by providing science-based horticulture information to the public. Master Gardeners are volunteers of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension.

What does all that mean? They know their stuff and they are ready to teach us all how to become masters in our own gardens too!
