Yavapai College: Experiencing James Webb – The Invisible Universe Revealed

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is the largest and most sophisticated space telescope ever built. It operates primarily in infrared light, which is invisible to the human eye. The JWST can detect the afterglow of the Big Bang, identify life supporting gases of planets orbiting other stars, and penetrate interstellar dust in star forming regions. Astrophysicist Sarah Rugheimer introduces the science, engineering, and discoveries of JWST. Operating a million miles from Earth, the telescope’s infrared capabilities allow us to look deep into space and observe the universe as it existed billions of years ago.
