Watershed Management Group: BB’s – Bats at the Borderlands
August 14, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Free
This virtual talk is a prep for our annual Bat Walk, a clean up and creek walk at the Rillito River, under the Campbell Ave bridge, where we will see the Mexican free-tailed bats flying in the summer sunset. You’ll learn all about different species of bats that migrate from Mexico to the southern US and we are excited to hear from Francesca Claverie, leader of the Borderlands Restoration Network Native Plant Nursery and co-manager of the Native Plant Materials Program, based in Patagonia, Arizona.
Join us and be amazed by these wonderful creatures of the night, the plants they need to survive, the ecosystem services they provide and their importance in the tequila and mezcal industry.
This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network (RRN). Members work together to learn about and steward our creeks and rivers through creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the RRN when you register for this event. Membership is free and includes a regular e-newsletter with upcoming events.
