Tucson Bird Alliance: Wild Burro Trail Field Trip

April 6 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am

Free – $5
We will walk up the wash adjacent to the Ritz Carlton, Dove Mountain.  Lush desert vegetation where we hope to see rock wrens, black-throated sparrows, cardinals, and pyrrhuloxia.  If you are a hiker, this trail is the jump-off point for many miles of other trails (there will be maps available at the trailhead).
Directions:  Get to the intersection of Tangerine and Twin Peaks and continue up Twin Peaks (it changes name to Dove Mountain Rd. at Tangerine) for 4.5 miles to a roundabout.  Take a right turn at the roundabout and drive to the gatehouse for the entrance to the Ritz Carlton.  Tell the friendly attendant that you are headed to the Wild Burrow Trailhead.  Drive ahead 0.7 miles to a right-hand turn and you have arrived at the parking lot for Wild Burrow on the right.
Coordinates: 32.475763, -111.091290
Trip difficulty:  Just over 1 mile on hard-packed, level dirt and firm wash sand.  About 2 hours in duration.  Flush toilets and water at the trailhead.  Little shade and one bench at the turnaround point.
Leader: Gerry Hodge

**Registration for Tucson Bird Alliance Members is free. Non-members can join this field trip for a non-refundable fee of $5.**
