Tucson Bird Alliance: Southeast Arizona Birding Festival – San Pedro House Field Trip

The San Pedro River is one of the single most important biological features in the arid Southwest and serves as a migratory corridor for an estimated 4 million migrating birds each year. Riparian specialties like Common Ground-Dove, Gray Hawk, and Blue Grosbeak are expected along with a good mixture of flycatchers like Western Wood Pewee, Cassin’s Kingbird, Willow Flycatcher, and plenty of Vermilion Flycatchers. Limited to 9 participants.

Difficulty: Moderate. About two miles walking on good gravel/dirt surfaces, although it may be muddy depending on monsoon conditions. Prepare for possibility of chiggers. Bathroom on-site. Drive time to location approximately 90 minutes.

Van Field Trip*

 

 

Part of the Tucson Bird Alliance’s Southeast Arizona Birding Festival.

There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee for all festival participants that are attending fee based activities: field trips, workshops, and evening programs.

*Van field trips include van transportation, but “Drive Yourself” field trips do not.  A packed lunch, snacks, and drinking water are provided on full-day field trips. A light snack and drinking water are provided on half-day field trips. All Van Trips depart from the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Reid Park“Drive Yourself” field trips will meet on-site at birding locations and you will received detailed directions.
