Tucson Bird Alliance: Southeast Arizona Birding Festival – Ramsey Canyon Field Trip

One of the most beautiful canyons in all of Southeast Arizona, Ramsey Canyon is full of giant Sycamores and amazing biodiversity. Hummingbird feeders at the Nature Conservancy could attract Rivoli’s, Black-chinned, Broad-billed, and Rufous Hummingbirds as well as possible Violet-crowned or Blue-throated. We’ll walk the preserve trails and look for birds of the madrean evergreen forest including Coppery-tailed Trogon, Greater Pewee, Dusky-capped Flycatcher, and Painted Redstart. Lunch included. Limited to 8 participants.

Difficulty: Moderate. Steeper slopes and some rocky/rooted trail, although the trail is well-maintained. Around two miles walking total. Drive time to locations approximately 90 minutes on paved road. Bathroom on-site.

Van Field Trip*

 

 

Part of the Tucson Bird Alliance’s Southeast Arizona Birding Festival.

There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee for all festival participants that are attending fee based activities: field trips, workshops, and evening programs.

*Van field trips include van transportation, but “Drive Yourself” field trips do not.  A packed lunch, snacks, and drinking water are provided on full-day field trips. A light snack and drinking water are provided on half-day field trips. All Van Trips depart from the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Reid Park“Drive Yourself” field trips will meet on-site at birding locations and you will received detailed directions.
