Scottsdale Community College: STEM Speaker Series Speaker 2 – The Vera C. Rubin Observatory

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory is located on the summit of Cerro Pachón in Chile. It’s situated in the Atacama Desert, a region known for its extremely clear skies, making it an ideal location for astronomical observation. The operations of the telescope are run out of Tucson. This telescope is changing how astronomy is done because in one night, the images it takes would previously have taken years to acquire. In its first few nights, it discovered over 2000 new asteroids.
