Pima County Public Library: Samples and Stories from the Delicious Desert – the Bounty and Diversity of the Sonoran Desert
January 29, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm
Free
Did you know that the Sonoran Desert where we live in Tucson is a food forest?
Come to this free library program, presented by the Tucson-based organization, called the Desert Harvesters. Learn about the seasonal harvesting and cooking of what’s growing right now in our local desert.
Hear stories about bountiful bean trees, cool cactus, beautiful berries, healthful herbs and more.
Desert Harvesters is based in Tucson, Arizona, in the beautiful, unique Sonoran Desert. For over twenty years Desert Harvesters has supported and grown community food and water security by inspiring the “re-wilding” of urban and suburban neighborhoods with delicious, drought-hardy, super-nutritious desert food plants, and cooking up affordable, place-based recipes anyone can create in their kitchen.
You can also check out the Desert Harvesters’ award-winning cookbook from the library called Eat Mesquite and More.
No registration is required, but the maximum number of participants is 30.
