Pima County Public Library: Practical Privacy and Safety on the Internet
November 13, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Free
“How much should you realistically worry about privacy and safety online? What steps should you take to protect yourself and others?
We follow two imagined Internet users, Alice and Bob, as they start their laptops and phones, connect to a network, visit sites on the web, check their email, and share some of their photos. As they complete each task, we identify the data they have revealed about themselves, and see how that data is used later by marketers, fraudsters, and a host of others to influence their behavior.
We then explore some of the practical steps Alice and Bob can take to protect themselves, and each other. The end of the session will be reserved for open discussion as a group.
This session is for all community members familiar with the basics of Internet usage.
