Pima County Conservation Lands and Resources: Arizona Trail History Hike

Join us on the Arizona National Scenic Trail for a 2-3 mile guided hike through Colossal Cave Mountain Park and the many fascinating peoples and cultures who have called this area home. Trekking poles are recommended and confidence on varied terrain is necessary. Bring a snack and plenty of water.

DIRECTIONS: Colossal Cave Mountain Park, 16721 E. Old Spanish Trail, Vail 85641 From East Tucson – Take 22nd Street to Old Spanish Trail and turn south, follow it about 17 miles to the Park entrance. From I-10 take exit 279 (the Vail/Wentworth exit), turn north on Colossal Cave Road and follow the signs for about 7 miles to the Park entrance. When you enter the park bear right and follow signs to La Posta Quemada Ranch. For hikes and birding walks the group meets at the Cowboy Statue and Picnic Area which is just before you get to La Posta Quemada Ranch buildings. Sections of the trail are steep and rocky. Please carry water and wear sturdy hiking shoes.
