McDowell Sonoran Conservancy: Wildflowers – The Beautiful Building Blocks of Life

February 22, 2025 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Join us for a colorful look at the wildflowers of Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve! Not only do our local wildflowers look beautiful, but they are also part of the plant life that supports the entire Sonoran Desert ecosystem. In this presentation you will learn about our most popular spring wildflowers, the role they play in nature, and how we are using science to preserve them!

Melanie Tluczek is the Director of Science and Education at the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy’s Parsons Field Institute. They have a master’s degree in wildlife ecology and have worked for the past 2 decades to preserve Sonoran Desert plants, animals, and habitat. In their free time Melanie is a gardener, avid hiker, citizen scientist, and loves to share their knowledge of the diverse local flora.
