Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Spooky Scorpion Safari

With Halloween just a day away get in the spooky spirit with Ranger Derik as you hike through the park at night is search of scorpions and other nocturnal species.  

Hike 2 miles along the Palm Lake and Mesquite Meander trails as you search for scorpions. The trail is rated as easy and will mainly consist of hard packed dirt and a few sections of sand with very few rocks. Water and bathrooms can be found at the parking lot just outside of the nature center. Please make sure to bring a flashlight and blacklights if you have them, if not you can rent both blacklights and flashlights from the nature center at no charge. If you are feeling festive you can even dress op in your costumes for the hike, just make sure you can hike easily in it. Please not pest.

MEETING LOCATION: Visitor Center

Limit 20 participants.

To register, please call the Visitor Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 9 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/28/24.
