Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Safari
July 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Eric to look for scorpions and other nocturnal wildlife on an easy hike along portions of the Mesquite Trail and possibly Waddell Trail.
We will hike 0.5-1 mile on easy grade, but occasionally rocky or uneven trail. We may shorten the hike depending on the heat or if thunderstorms occur. Wildlife may include scorpions, spiders, insects, owls, nightjars, reptiles, and mammals. Please bring your own flashlight or headlamp, ample water and electrolytes (it is highly recommended to pre-hydrate and take electrolytes before you arrive), and wear sturdy footwear. A blacklight is also recommended, but the ranger will have one to point out scorpions with.
