Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Safari

August 22, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Nikki on an evening stroll to search for scorpions and other nocturnal critters.

Ranger Nikki will lead you on a walk to search for bark, striped-tail and giant hairy scorpions. We will also be on the lookout for other nocturnal critters such as bats, owls, tarantulas, centipedes and more. The route follows NoSo Trail to Blevins west to make a 2-mile loop. The terrain is mostly level with small to medium rocks underfoot and a few areas where the ground is uneven. Bring your blacklight and a regular flashlight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Trailhead. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.

Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website is the best resource for verifying the program’s current status, so please check the program listing prior to departing for your scheduled program.
