Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Plant Walk

February 19 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Nikki on a walk to see what’s growing and blooming in our beautiful Sonoran Desert.

Learn about the Sonoran Desert in springtime with a chance to see wildflowers and blooming shrubs. Late fall rains provided a start for the flower season so there may be a continuation of blooms or even a second round for spring. Ranger Nikki will lead the way to check the status of brittlebush, globemallow and possibly wildflowers such as lupine, poppies, bladderpod and more. The route uses a short section of lower Pass Mountain Trail and connects to Talon Trail to head south. We will then use the roadway to navigate back to the parking lot. The trails are rated easy to moderate and the surface varies from level and smooth to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and water. Water and restrooms are available at the trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: Wind Cave Parking lot (There are a few parking area options along Wind Cave Drive loop)
