Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Park to Park – Cave Creek to Spur Cross
It’s back! Join Ranger Jacque for a full day (starting at sunrise!) of hiking from Cave Creek Regional Park to Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. Trail is approximately 11 miles in length, and utilizes the Go John, Maricopa, and Spur Cross trails. Trail conditions are rated moderate to difficult, so expect a considerable amount of loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. This is not a hike for inexperienced or beginning hikers, but perfect for seasoned hikers. Please bring plenty of water (at least three liters recommended) and snacks, and wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Proper clothing (layers), sunscreen, and hat are strongly recommended. Trekking poles may be useful. It is also a good idea to leave some extra water in your vehicle for your return. Restrooms and water can be found at the Nature Center. This is a one-way through hike (not round trip), beginning at the Nature Center at Cave Creek Regional Park and ending at Spur Cross Conservation Area.
IMPORTANT: It is the hiker’s responsibility to coordinate with others for a ride back to the starting point or arrange for someone to pick you up; we cannot transport people back to the starting point in county vehicles.
MEETING LOCATION: Go John Trailhead Parking
