Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: National Public Lands Day Plant Hike

September 27, 2025 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Nikki to celebrate National Public Lands Day and enjoy a morning of health and wellness as you walk through the desert and get to know some of the fascinating and enduring plants of our Sonoran Desert.

National Public Lands Day is an annual event that encourages the public to connect with the public lands around them. This can include joining volunteer conservation projects or just simply getting outdoors, exploring nature safely and responsibly and supporting efforts to learn about and protect these special places. To honor this day, Ranger Nikki will lead you on a leisurely morning hike to enjoy some peaceful time in the desert and learn about the cacti, trees, shrubs and flowers all around. The route uses Blevins and Cat Peaks Trails to make a 3-mile loop. The terrain ranges from level and flat to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and sun-protective clothing and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging, Blevins east access
