Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: National Public Lands Day Hike

September 27, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Free with Park Fee
Come take a hike and learn about the history and importance of public lands as well as some of the cool volunteer opportunities at the Lake and other Maricopa County parks with Ranger Shaun!

Wild Burro is an easy rated trail. This hike will walk it twice, once in either direction for a total of 4 miles. There are restrooms at either end. Along the way we’ll briefly discuss discuss the history of parks and public lands in the US and Arizona and delve into some of the volunteer opportunities available here in the Maricopa County Parks system. We’ll discuss the need to identify and combat invasive plants, keep our parks clean and our trails in good shape. Learn about things you can do to use, utilize, assist, and even partner with your local park to help keep our public lands safe, open, clean, and perhaps most importantly, public for the future.
