Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Lunch and Learn – Scavengers!

The desert, you might have noticed, is not prone to allowing thing to rot. That requires a certain amount of ambient humidity we simply do not have most of the time. So, what’s a dead thing to do? Mummify? Well, that’s a choice, but if you’d rather not become dust and leather in the sun, have we got the critters for you! Let Ranger Shaun introduce you to the world of Scavengers! These animals specialize in getting rid of the stuff nobody else wants. Let’s give them their 15 minutes of, well, maybe not fame, but at least attention.
Program will be inside near water fountains and restrooms. Bringing snacks is encouraged. While the conversation may not be particularly appetizing, it shouldn’t be graphic either.
MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 9/11/25.
