Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Intro to Desert Hiking
Are you curious about hiking and want to find hikes near you? Then come down to Nature Center and learn how to start hiking in the desert with ranger Derik.
This class will cover a variety of topics around hiking and desert safety. Topics covered will be Basic map reading, what to carry, knowing when to turn around, water, weather, food, training, and planning. The ranger will have a PowerPoint as well as a sample backpack with gear for a full day hike. Feel free to ask questions and bring your own hiking gear.
