Hike 2.5 miles on the Wild burro trail with ranger Derik and Learn how to safely explore the desert this fall.

Hike along the lake with Ranger Derik and learn about the ins and outs of safe desert hiking. Topics that will be covered include picking a trail, how to plan a hike, and what to bring. The trail will be a little over a mile or and about a mile back on rocky/uneven ground. Following the hike Ranger Derik will have his gear laid out at the picnic table to show what he carried on an average day hike in the Sonoran Desert for about half an hour. Water and bathrooms will be available at the trailhead. Please make sure to bring plenty of water sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
