Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Intro to Desert Hiking

Join Ranger Derik on a short hike out to the famous Michelin Man cactus as you learn about safely hiking in the desert.
We will hike on the Slate Tail for 2 miles to the “Michelin Man” cactus. Along the way you will learn skills, tips and tricks to stay safe while hiking on longer trails in our county parks. You will have a chance to see what a ranger carries to stay safe in the desert. Please make sure to bring plenty of water and wear proper shoes as the trail can be rocky in some places. Water and restrooms can be found at the nature center on your way to the trailhead.
