Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Homeschool Happenings – How Kids Can Help Nature Heal

September 23, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Kevin as we explore some things kids can do to help the desert recover and become healthier.

Join Ranger Kevin as we talk about why some places in our desert aren’t as healthy as they could be, why they might need our help to recover, and learn about some things that kids can do to help. Ecological restoration is what we’re talking about (big words, simple idea!). Come prepared to get a little dirty, because we will also be making some real live seedbombs, which are round balls of clay and compost with native seeds built in, and then we’ll go out and throw some into the area around the Nature Center, where those seeds will have a chance to grow big and strong and add even more beauty to our park. Kids will also get a seedbomb to take home and plant in their own gardens or yard.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center, Classroom.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 9/21.
