Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Haunted Halloween Hike Family program

October 31, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Kevin for a one-of-a-kind Halloween hike.

Why not take a break from scrounging the neighborhood for free candy and join us? This program is designed for kids and families of all ages. We’ll burn off some pre-candy calories on a one-mile walk on the Merkle trail. Participants are encouraged to come in costume and help us add the “haunted” to our Halloween hike. Just don’t expect the snakes and lizards (or Rangers) to cough up any candy; they’re on a strict desert diet.  Please do have the kids wear closed-toe shoes, and bring along some water. Also, please check any costumes in advance to make sure they don’t drag on the ground or cause a tripping hazard. Trails is rated easy, with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Restrooms are available near the parking area. This program is for humans only, please leave the costumed pets at home.
