Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Ecosystem Hike

October 22, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free with Park Fee
A late morning walk and talk about the interconnectedness of desert wildlife with Ranger Shaun.

Come alone for a walk through the desert as we have a look at various plants (and hopefully animals) and discuss their many roles on the grand stage of the desert’s ecosystem. How each plays a small (or large) part in making that system work. From making food to being food, finding shelter to being shelter, eating, being eaten, or sometimes stopping someone from eating someone else!

We’ll walk sections of the Moonlight, Stargazer, and San Tan trails. These trails are rated moderate, moderate-difficult, and easy, respectively though the sections we’ll be walking will be moderate at worst. Closed toe shoes and water bottles required. Sunscreen or long sleeves and hats recommended. Hiking poles or walking sticks not required, but welcome.

MEETING LOCATION: Main Trailhead picnic table

Precise Meeting Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aYcMVqnofjovPGEX8
