Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – International Bat Night

Learn about Arizona’s bats with Ranger Eric and possibly see some at dusk!  

Did you know that Arizona is home to 28 bat species, making it one of the most species rich states for bats in the U.S.? To celebrate International Bat Night, stop by this discovery station to learn about Arizona’s bats, where they live, their diets, and more with Ranger Eric. We will also debunk myths that surround these misunderstood mammals. Sunset is at 7:04pm on this day, so if you arrive between sunset and dusk, you may see bats taking flight into the night sky. You might see them flying over the lake or around streetlights around the park at night. Ranger Eric will also point out any scorpions, spiders, insects, or other wildlife that we might see at the trailhead.

No registration required. Just show up between 8:00-9:00pm. Note that the park closes at 9:00pm.
